Florence The cultural and historical impact of Firenze (Florence) is overwhelming. Close up, however, the city is one of Italy's most atmospheric and pleasant, retaining a strong resemblance to the medieval centre that contributed so much to the cultural and political development of Europe. For amazing attractions you won't need to venture far from Florence's medieval core It is a Renaissance wonderland.Florence is the capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants. It spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. The Chianti area, between Florence and Siena, is one of the most beautiful countryside's in Italy and a famous wine production area. Florence is steeped in the history of Art and culture. In fact is seems to ooze form every pore. The museums are stunnng, and the sense of history astounding. But then it has been the home of Michelangelo, Leonardo De Vinci, Cimabue, Giotto, Arnolfo and Andrea Pisano,o; Botticelli and Paolo Uccello, Boccaccio and Dante, and thier legacy continues today.
