SENIOR COURSES FOR OVER 50's

Vacation/study for participants of the age 50 and up. This course is conducted in small, same-level groups in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. A rich cultural program accompanies the course.

The Senior Class program is designed for people of all nationalities who are nearing or over the age of 50 and who wish to combine the study of the Italian language with an interesting and varied cultural program.

The language courses are held in small groups, allowing the instructor to devote time to each individual student. Courses are offered at all levels, from the complete beginner to the most advanced.

To meet the particular goals of our senior students, we have created flexible courses using the latest teaching techniques. Our specially qualified teachers are able to keep participants enthusiastic, motivated and involved, while maintaining a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

An extensive cultural program is an integral part of the course and includes guided tours, excursions, cultural events, short seminars, and dinners in typical Roman restaurants.

Senior Class Prices:
2 weeks (40 hrs. + Cultural program): € 793

Cultural Activities

The senior course includes several cultural activities as follows:

Guided tours
Four afternoon guided tours in or near Rome:
• The Roman Forum and the Imperial Forums (Curia, Temple of Vesta, Trajan’s Market)
• Pigna district (Pantheon, S. Maria Sopra Minerva Church, sacred archeological area at Largo Argentina)
• Monti district and the Esquiline basilicas (S. Maria Maggiore, Santa Prudenziana, Santa Prassede)
• Ostia Antica

Two evening activities
• Guided tour of the center followed by dinner in a typical Roman restaurant
• A cooking workshop in which students prepare a full dinner menu and enjoy the meal together.

One full-day weekend trip
Orvieto, a small town in Umbria about an hour from Rome. Orvieto is known throughout Italy not only for its Etruscan origins, its Cathedral with frescoes by Signorelli and its historic center and medieval walls, but also for its food and white wine.

Senior Accommodations

For the Senior Class participants, the school offers the following accommodation options:

Italian Home
Accommodations in a single room in an Italian home (usually with singles; rarely families with children). The kitchen and bathroom are shared. (Towels are not provided.) This is the most economical type of arrangement; however, it does require that participants adapt to living with others and perhaps to different customs.

Hotel
Accommodations in one of the hotels of various categories near the school, with breakfast or half board included.
